The "Rope Horse" — DNA outside the flask

submitted by JimboIsDaMan

A reader tipped us off to a "rope horse" — a horse stretched into a long ribbon by pulling a gene out of the CRISPR flask into the gray margin. The community calls the underlying trick "DNA outside the flask."

Reported steps (unverified)

  1. Force the game into windowed mode and resize the window
  2. Drag a gene from the CRISPR panel out into the gray margin
  3. Quit the game
  4. Head outside and lasso the result from the hot-air balloon

We haven't reproduced this on our own machine yet, so it stays a community report — but it's no longer just word of mouth. The method is backed by a real video tutorial and a Reddit write-up (below), and multiple players independently describe the same "DNA outside the flask" behavior. The submitter's first video link had a one-character typo; we tracked down the working one. Land it on camera yourself and we'll bump this to Video-verified.

"Moonwalking Human" — a player-edited genome

submitted by JimboIsDaMan

JimboIsDaMan hand-edited a genome in Notepad while trying to build a human faster than HeTheLyon's — and after an hour ended up with this "Moonwalking Human" instead. He shared the full genome, so we verified its format and promoted it into the Player Genome Library, where you can read our analysis and load it into the DNA Database in one click.

Easy money by "kidnapping" farm owners

submitted by u/Substantial-Jury-658

A detailed early-game money loop from r/HorseyGame: get a farm owner drunk, "kidnap" them into your trailer, install one of their own horses as the new (sentient, hatted) owner, then sell everything back and forth and repeat. The author reports ~$500–$2,000 per farm, scaling past $2,000, and roughly $30,000 in a single night before ever placing a bet or racing.

Reported steps (unverified)

  1. At game start, hit the saloon and fast-forward the TV to run real races (wins raise horse values) while you stock up on as much beer as you can carry in your trailer.
  2. Travel to any farm; inspect its horses and note the most valuable (a farmer may price a "favorite" high for no reason).
  3. Feed the farmer 3 beers to knock them out — feeding only 1–2 beers instead just changes their asking prices.
  4. Move the sleeping farmer into your trailer to "kidnap" them; the game spawns a replacement, usually a sentient horse.
  5. Place the farmer's best horse exactly where they stood — it gains sentience and a hat and takes over running the farm.
  6. Sell the farmer back to the new horse-owner, then get that horse drunk and kidnap it too (a magnifying glass by a name = not currently the registered owner).
  7. Sell the farm all your horses, knock everyone out, kidnap, and repeat for as much beer as you brought.
  8. Dump unwanted horses at the glue factory; keep ~$400 horses to resell at the next farm. Restock beer and repeat.

Community-reported and described as author-tested, but we haven't reproduced it ourselves — so it's a community tip, not a verified method. The owner-registration detail (the magnifying-glass cue) and the exact payouts are the author's own observations.

Why we curated this page

Walkthroughs and meta-builds tell you how the game shouldbe played. The subreddit shows you how it's actually played — usually with far more chaos. We surface 30 top posts so newcomers can see the creative ceiling on day one.

Each card opens an internal detail page that credits the original poster and offers an outbound link to the Reddit thread for the full discussion. See /sources for the canonical r/HorseyGame attribution.
